An atmospheric visit under a bleak winter sky to Haughmond Abbey, a ruined Medieval Augustinian Monastery

Haughmond Abbey  Haughmond Abbey located in Shrewsbury in Shropshire around a 1 0 minute drive from Albrighton Hall and Spa which is where we were staying for the evening (reviewed in another post  https://www.booking.com/hotel/gb/albrighton.en.html?aid=8023173&no_rooms=1&group_adults=2 ) We visited as it was convenient for our stay, not knowing a great deal about the Abbey and what to expect, it made for a very enjoyable impromptu experience.  The Abbey covers quite a large area and there is still several large ruined pieces of the structure to enjoy.  Being part of the English heritage collection it is well maintained, there is a small exhibit  inside the office. A Greek holiday destination for the family, Vasia Resort and Spa, an all round great experience creating lasting memories for the family.

Vasia Resort and Spa  Sissi, Lasithi, Greece.  Located around 39KM from Heraklion airport (30 minute drive) Vasia is well worth the transfer time.  We really liked the hotel, furnishings were to a high standard, relaxed atmosphere, very good quality food with a good selection.  We really enjoyed eating out on the terrace for all our meals.  There are 3 specialty restaurants, Greek, International and Italian, we ate at the Italian restaurant on the roof top which was very nice, catches the sunset and ambience of the area beautifully.  The staff were friendly and very accommodating.  There are 2 main pools for everyone and a quiet pool near our apartment which was really nice when we just wanted to relax and be by ourselves.  The little harbour and town are very nice and scenic, you can take in the sunset, relax and just be content.  No real beach to enjoy, we used the free shuttle to their sister hotel around 15 minutes away which had a small ...
