Livorno Cruise port to Pisa? Helpful tips and information about 1 way to get there.

Livorno to The Leaning Tower of Pisa

This post is to help anyone that is on a cruise and wishes to travel from Livorno Port to Pisa on their own, the most important part is to be really mindful to validate your train ticket, even if you have just purchased it at the station.
Strange concept in my mind, and I'm sure it catches lots of tourists out.
We heard of a few people on our cruise that got fined, as they hadn’t validated their ticket.
Regardless of my opinion, you need to validate your ticket, before you get on your designated train.
There are small machines in the station and on the platform.
You slide your whole ticket in to the right hand side from memory and slide left and the machine will sound an alarm and turn green if successful.
Persist as it can take a few attempts.

Ok, now that the important part has been highlighted, transportation route as follows.

The Cruise company / Port usually and in our case (Tui) offered a shuttle bus into Livorno for 6€ per adult and 4€ for children.
From the stop that the shuttle drops you off out, you can catch a bus to the train station ( Livorno Centrale , 10 minutes journey)
We walked and it takes around 25-30 minutes, it’s a flat and reasonably direct walk, we used Iphone maps)
The bus you need to take is the 1+ which runs to and from the train station to the cruise shuttle drop off / pick up point. ( for the return, it’s basically the last stop in Livorno)
It’s around a 10 minute journey depending on traffic.
Once you reach the station you need to catch the train to Pisa Centrale, it’s around a 15 minute journey, 6€ return. ( don’t forget to validate your ticket)
Catch the 1+ bus from the train station towards "Park Pietrasantina" and get off at the "Torre" stop. You'll know that you've arrived at the stop if you can spot the gate to the Cathedral Square or Piazza dei Miracoli, travel time - 10 minutes, you will soon see the hoards of people heading in the direction you want to go in.
We were charged around £2.50 in total for both journeys as we paid by card.
If there is an excursion on offer, personally I would book this as long as the price is not excessive, this also depends on how long you want to stay at Pisa, whichever you choose, you won’t be disappointed when you get to the Leaning Tower.

Stirling Castle and the William Wallace Monument, the best start to our Scottish Castle Tour

STIRLING CASTLE AND THE WILLIAM WALLACE MONUMENT First stop on our Scottish 4 day Castle Tour (by car) Stirling Castle seemed familiar to me, mainly, because it reminded me of Edinburgh Castle, a very impressive position perched atop its intrusive crag, well preserved also, we really enjoyed our visit with lots of different areas to see and explore. The views are stunning and stretch as far as the eye can see in all directions, the location of the castle was no accident. You can see Bridgehaugh, right next to Stirling Old Bridge which was the site of the battle of Stirling Bridge where in 1297 William Wallace defeated an English army.  With its place in history, we had to visit on our trip. Whilst in Stirling, we ignorantly stumbled across the William Wallace Monument, due to its unique shape, design and significance we found it to be another highlight of the trip. It’s a must, it’s quite daunting when you climb to the top and realise how high up you are. The views are very impress...

Thinking about Lostwithiel Cornwall? Check out our best 10 attractions including Spectacular Beaches with photographs.

Location, Location, Location   This visit to Cornwall was a business trip, so we chose The Fowey Valley Hotel in Lostwithiel due to its ideal location for us, although Lostwithiel is a small town it’s location is well positioned if you plan on visiting the local scenic quaint harbours and beaches.  The Fowey Valley is a very reasonably priced hotel with good facilities, and comfortable furnishings, the food was very good, both the evening meal and breakfast with a good selection.                              We found the staff very efficient friendly and accommodating. There is plenty of free parking on site, but make sure you remember to register your car at reception to avoid fines.  We visited the following places before we ran out of time. - Looe, 26 minute drive - Polkerris, 15 minute drive ( a lovely place to enjoy a warm evening either in the Rashleigh Arms...
