Witley Court and Gardens, one of English Heritage finest, a family trip that offers something different. A must see attraction in Worcester.
Witley Court and Gardens
I didn't really know what to expect when we decided to visit, but what a nice surprise, both my son and I really enjoyed every aspect of Witley.
Its just very different, eerie and intriguing.
The huge Perseus and Andromeda fountain in the main garden is very impressive.
Witley is a huge site, the scenery is very impressive, offering a woodland walk, lake, gardens, the mansion itself and a very impressive Baroque Parish church.
There is a children’s play area also and plans to add a cafe.
There is a gift shop and toilet facilities already on site.
A little bit of History
The vast shell of Witley Court was once one of the great country houses of England.
After a devastating fire in 1937, however, it became one of the country's most spectacular ruins. The earliest phase of the Witley Court buildings dates to the 13th century.
Witley was remodelled and transformed 3 times, twice by the Foley family in the 18th century and again about 1805–10, and then by the Ward family, Earls of Dudley, in the 1850s.
Witley is located in Worcester, a 25 minute drive from Junction 6 of the M5
